CULTURA4: PROVERBIOS IRLANDESES. Irlanda (Éire [ˈeːrʲə], en irlandés; Ireland, en inglés), es un país europeo, que ocupa la mayor parte de la isla del mismo nombre. Conserva tres de sus cuatro provincias históricas (Leinster (irlandés: Laighin), Connacht (irlandés: Connachta) y Munster (irlandés: An Mhumhain) siendo gran parte de la restante, Ulster (irlandés: Cúige Uladh), conocida como Irlanda del Norte, parte del Reino Unido.[2] [3] Su capital es Dublín (en irlandés: Baile Átha Cliath y en inglés: Dublin). En el año 1949 se declaró el Estado irlandés como la República Irlandesa (en inglés Republic of Ireland, en irlandés Poblacht na hÉireann). Ocasional y coloquialmente es llamada «la Isla Esmeralda», haciendo referencia al intenso color verde de sus campos.

Irish Gaelic (IG) proverbs are called "seanfhocail" (literally "old words". Many Irish Gaelic proverbs are also found in Scottish Gaelic (SG). (eg: Is maith an scáthán súil charad (IG), Is math an sgathan suil caraide (SG) which means in English;A friend's eye is a good mirror.)
